Spoony and I played paintball with Yetr2, his cousin alex, and spoony’s friend Deege. I suspect I will be sore tomorrow.

Sunday, July 1st, 2007Down with the sickness!
Friday, March 30th, 2007I haven’t updated this journal much because, well, I have been quite sick.
I have been feeling ill since irishcon 2007, and it only got worse when we got back to town. Thursday of last week I was feeling bad enough to go to the doctor.
Since TJ had strep throat recently, it was a safe bet that is what I had. The doctor agreed, and prescribed me some antibiotic called Keflex (spelling?). This got rid of some of my sickness, but I was still coughing after 5 days of taking it.
Going back to the doctor, he provided me with 7 days of another antibiotic, with the assumption that I have walking pneumonia. So, after 3 days of the new antibiotics I’m starting to feel more human.
St. Patrick's Day 2007
Monday, March 19th, 2007This year for St. Patrick’s day Spoony’s friends Eric and Kat invited us to join them in Savannah, Georgia. There is apparently a big parade there on Paddy’s day. Who knew?
It turned out a fellow siner, mizgiwir lives in Savannah, so we made some plans to meet him. I also invited possum and yetr2 along, without really mentioning this to spoony…
Somehow or another Yetr2 ended up driving us in his parent’s van.
Through most of the trip I was sleeping, as I had (and have)
a bad cold strep throat.
Helen Visit: Part 3
Monday, March 5th, 2007We watched the rest of BPS, and then Boondock Saints. Good movie! Sometime between the two, Spoony went to sleep. I think Helen did not fancy Boondock Saints very much, but she stayed up for the whole thing. I stayed up a bit longer, playing some dragonball Z game with Josh. PB then started playing Vice City, and I was proceeded to be beaten at Mario Kart DS by Syrra.
At 3:00AM, we all called it quits.
Spoony woke me up with great effort. In my tired stupor, I tried to explain that because of the bag of remotes, I did not need to wake up. I do not remember this very well.
I managed to (finally) take some photos. I always forget such things. I’ll upload them soon.
We got Helen to the airport in good time, said our goodbyes, and came back home. Syrra and co. were still sleeping in our living room, so we went back to bed. I think we all managed to wake up at 11:00 or noon.
Apparently, we did not close chibi chii (our not-quite-adult cat) with us, so Josh had to defend himself with a broom all night long. He said he didn’t remember doing so at all.
After everyone was showered or otherwise clean, we set out in Josh’s car to get lunch and pocky. The first oriental market we went to was closed, so we went to the (much larger) one on 34th street. There was pocky and numerous other … things. Including some unlabled jerky / dehydrated meat. I was going to get it, but I chickened out in the end. It was probably just beef, but I didn’t feel like experimenting. We ate lunch at Marbo, a very good Californian-Chinese-American restuarant.
Of course, there was the incident with the egret and josh’s car, which deserves its own seperate entry.
Helen Visit: Part 2
Sunday, March 4th, 2007Morning: There are siners sleeping in my house! We all stayed up until about 3:00AM watching BPS and talking. Everyone but me is still asleep.
We have a schedule of sorts for today. We are going to eat breakfast at IHOP, and then go to the swampy park near my parent’s house. With any luck, helen will get to see an aligator, the quintessential animal of Florida (I think, anyway).
After that, we will stop by my parent’s house to be polite and suchlike.
Continuing south, we shall go over the Skyway (Helen wanted to see it) and to Anna Maria Island, so Syrra can see a beach. She has never seen one before.
PB also wants to stop at a Goodwill (a sort of thrift store) to see if they have any computer parts.
Evening: We did everything on the schedule, even though it was cold, wet, and cloudy. Helen must have brought the weather from England with her. At the park, helen took photos of PB and I comitting a misdemeanor, among lots of other photos. She also took a picture of the IHOP!
I think we all had entirely too much fun at the Goodwill, playing with various hats and things. I think both Spoony and Helen bought some books.
Helen Visit: Part 1
Saturday, March 3rd, 2007Morning: Helen’s flight arrives tonight at around 11:00 pm, spoony and I are going to pick her up. Also, Syrra and PB are driving down from Georgia. Luckily we have two air mattresses.
Evening: We have Helen now, and we are back home. Syrra and PB were waiting in our driveway. And they brought their friend Josh with them.
Helen brought us chocolates and other candies that boyfriend Joe picked out. They’re good.
I think we are going to watch some Battle Programmer Shirase, since neither Syrra nor Helen
R.I.P. Loki
Monday, February 19th, 2007So, we’ve been redecorating since the flood, and things are looking nice around here. We’ve got a lamp in the bedroom/computer room!
The bad news is my desktop machine, Loki, decided to die.

It’s the power supply, which toasted the motherboard. RAM, video card, and most importantly SATA harddrive should be okay.
Hillarious DND session
Sunday, February 11th, 2007I played DND (Dungeons and Dragons) with Possum, JasonFM, and Teeter today. It was a good session, with a very strange closing. Jason accidently killed a dragon with a misfired arrow!
And there was a crazy man at the restuarant we played at. Best quote: “You’re cyborgs, right?”
New Carpet
Wednesday, February 7th, 2007Last night the landlord (Victor) called and said carpet-men would be over to install new carpeting. (Also, yesterday someone came and installed a new wax ring on the toilet…)
So, now we have nice new carpeting in both the living room and TJ’s bedroom. Hurrah!
The Great Flood of 2007
Sunday, February 4th, 2007Today started out fine. I woke up early, before spoony, and made her breakfast: bacon and toast. Sadly we didn’t have any eggs. After this, I hacked on the computer a bit, figuring out how to have a blog working and such. (I ended up using wordpress).
Anyway, we also tried to wash the dog. It went alright, except he started bleeding from a bump he has on his tail, which made us stop sooner than expected.
Next, it was spoony’s turn to bathe, which she did. However, after this, the tub would not drain. I went at it with a plunger for a while, to no avail. I also noticed the toilet would not flush. I then called that landlord, and we left for my parents house so I could, er, shower. At this point I was covered in poo-water… Well, it didn’t have poo in it. I think.
After I showered at my folks’ place, we went to the Marbo and ate yummy chinese food.
We returned home to find that Victor, our landlord, had started fixing the problem. The first evidence of this was the brown… material in the tub. And the fact that the bathroom was flooding.
So, yeah. Most of the living room and TJ’s bedroom got flooded, and it’s been pretty much a nightmare. However, spoony and I have mostly not fought over this. We both got a bit snippy, but for the most part we’ve been laughing hysterically.
