THERE ARE TIME FLIES IN MY COMPUTER!

I mean, hi.

We pretty much celebrated on the 28th, which also coincided with MegaCon. You can guess where we went for our anniversary.
And yes, we ate the top part of the cake, which had been saved in the mother-in-law’s fridge.

I can’t help but remember that I am a terrible person that hasn’t given his groomsmen a gift. I am now over a year late in this. :-/

Just in case the previous post did not make it obvious, I (was) job hunting. I
never really talked about my job at R-Stream (not because it was bad, but)
because I was working a lot. It was fun. My co-workers were great. Two of them
friends I had met outside of work. My (former?) supervisor is a great guy, and
work was challenging.

I suppose that all good things must come to pass, as I was informed two weeks
ago that my last paycheck would be January 16th of this year. The reason being
entirely financial… This is rather disturbing news to get around Christmas,
and I went into a frenzy of job-hunting, as is hinted at in my previous post.

I believe it paid off, as I was offered a job at Infinity Interactive, working with some brilliant people that I’ve become
familiar with in the #moose channel on magnet. :)

Life here has been very busy as of late. Back in December my dad was hospitalized due to a bacterial infection. While he was hospitalized, the company he worked for, Titan Products was sold by its owner. At the time, my father was reassured his job would be safe. However, it turns out that his position was eliminated by the acquisition…

At about the same time, I got a job offer to work at
a company called R-Stream. This was a really great oppurtunity, but it was a difficult choice becase my employer at the time was really nice. My choice was made for me, however, as my then-employer, Vici Marketing, decided my position wasn’t needed.

So, since late December I’ve been working at R-Stream as the lead programmer on their Point-of-Sale software.
This has been really fun. Sure, the code base is crufty, but it’s written in perl, uses postgresql.

Working at R-Stream is all the more fun because they hired two of my friends — Possum (Dan LeWarne) and Jonathon Conte. Both of whom are people I met via SLUG. Of course,

My other co-workers also very cool people.

They had these stocking hangers over the fireplace that spelled out SANTA…

At spoony’s encouraging, I re-arranged them to spell something else.
Nobody noticed for a day, until spoony’s mom exclaimed: “Why does that spell SATAN!!?”.

This ended up being a good thing, as we found a house (rather than a duplex)
with the same monthly rent. We have a bit more space, and rather big front and
back yards.

This past weekend we also visited Spoony’s family, which was (as usual) pleasant.

I really wish I had more to write about, but I’ve not had much time to do
anything fun.

He said: “Jason’s unconscious! I need to call 911! do you have a phone?”
I gave him spoony’s phone, since mine was near dead.

While he’s on the phone with the 911 emergency operators, Jason stumbles out, saying “I’m okay. Are you calling 911? here, gimme”
and Jason proceeds to tell the 911 he’s fine.

The only other part I heard was something about him accidentally taking epinephrine.

Strange night. (Actually, it was 3 AM or so)
