A weekend in Orlando

(Back posting this)

Woot! Saturday, tina and I went to the Hilton in Orlando, to attend her office party thing. I’ve never been to orlando (or stayed in a hotel), and it was quite fun. Tina wore a skirt! It’s rare to see her dresed, y’know, girly… She looked beautiful, as always. :)

I met several of her co-workers, including Ivan, the Ukrainian-Russian draftsman. He was so sarcastic, that it made me appear serious.

We went to downtown Orlando, to Pleasure Island (Like some sort of amusement park, not like a… something else) and went to a bar. Tina orderd a white russian, while I nearly went mad from the thundering music and strobe lights (It was an eighties-themed dance club). Luckily tina decided we should leave…

We then stumbled into the… Irish District of Pleasure Island. There was a pub playing irish music (Dubliners, Pogues, the standard “popular” irish stuff). We also stopped by a gift shop, where I got two irish flags and an irish flag keychain. After that, we stopped into something labeled “Cookes of Dublin”, and had fish and chips, and a fried candy bar. That surely will harden the arteries.

Not wanting to wait for a bus, we somehow walked back to the hotel.

We also procured year-round passes to Seaworld, so Today we went there. We spent the entire day there. I rodesome roller coaster called “Kraken”, and we ate some yummy carribean-ish food. I really really like jerk chicken.

We also went to the kiddie area, where they had a maze of tubes set up. Over top of them, water rained down. TJ (Tina’s son) went in there. It looked like so much fun (and also, TJ refused to leave…), so I went in and chased after him. Eventually I decided to get out (myself and TJ were suffering hypothermia). Then we went to the wild arctic exhibit. Of course, TJ had a change of clothing and was nice and warm. I was not quite so lucky…

Also, earlier in the day we saw an older gentleman on the 10th floor of the hilton wearing a SuSE linux t-shirt. I said “SuSe, SuSe!” and tina repeated me. The guy turned around, looked at us, and than hurried off. I guess we scared him.
