So, I woke up this morning while Tina and her son were getting ready to leave. Tina, my love, had two bags and her son to carry. Being a nice fellow, I offered to carry one, and she handed it to me.
So, after I put the bag in her car, I give her a hug and a kiss, and say “seeya later”. As I walk back to the stairs (for she lives on the third floor), I think “I wonder if she locked the door?”
I soon realized my fear was correct, she had locked it. So I run down the stairs, thinking that I can catch her. Her car is 10 feet from me, and moving out. I fly through the parking lot, hoping against hope to catch up. I’m hollering her name, waving my arms. I even picked up a stick and threw it at her car. It hit, but she didn’t notice. She stops at the red-light that is the exit from her apartment complex. I think “Woo, I shall catch her!”. But, tired, I slow a little. Too much in fact. Before I’m close enough, she pulls out into traffic.
Not wanting to be stuck outside her apartment for four and a half hours at least, I chased after her. But, after a block, I give up and walk back to her apartment. I don’t wanna be hit by cars, right?
i I get back up to her apartment door, and sit down. I figure I’ll wait ’til she returns for lunch. I did manage to remove the screen from her window, but I couldn’t life the window because it was locked shut. I decide to sleep, and essentially fall alseep in front of her door. There are two bags of garbage near me, in front of her door. Those are to be taken to the big apartment-complex-garbage-area.
I’m woken up an hour or so later by a drunk woman, who has also locked herself out. We talked briefly, and I think she was offering to split her sixpack with me… But I just sort of ignored her and she left.
I layed down again, on the floor in front of the door, and slept. When next I awoke, I gauged by where the sun was it was about 10:30. I figured this out by remembering local noon is about 12:30 EST (Not EDT).
To make sure, I walked to the office building of Tina’s apartment. I went in, barefoot, and spoke with some woman about my predicament. Actually, I just told her about it, and asked for the time. It was 11:00. Woo! Tina gets home for lunch around 11:20, so I hurried back to wait.
At last, I see Tina pull in. I go down the stairs, walk over to her as she gets out of her car. She looks at me quizically, and I say: “Didn’t you see me chasing you? Or hear the sticks I through at the car?” She said “No…” After I explained that she had locked the door, and thus locked me out, we both started laughing. She laughed so hard, she had to laugh into the hood of her car.
After that we hugged, and went up stairs.
Anyway, it wasn’t that bad. Just four hours, outside her door. I talked to myself a bit, and mostly slept. I bet her neighbors though she had thrown me out or something, as I was sleeping 4 feet from garbage… And it’s not very normal for someone to sleep outside someone’s door, let alone in broad daylight. I’m glad she’s on the third floor, otherwise I might have had to answer questions from curious on-lookers….
So, yes. Four hours of solitude. I practiced meditation, enjoyed the really nice fall Florida weather, and pondered ways of breaking in to my girlfriend’s apartment… Lovely day.
Update: I should like to mention, Tina felt quite bad about this. Even though it’s partly my fault. But hey, it’s something to laugh about. :)
Update 2: I hadn’t trimmed my beard for several days, or shaved the hair on my upper-neck… and I’m sure my hair was in disarray, too. I probably looked like a drunk or a homeless man.
